Online Security Device (OSD)
Your Online Security Device (OSD) is a personalized device that randomly generates One-Time PIN (OTP) and Transaction Authorization Code (TAC). These Security codes ensure greater levels of security for your internet banking transactions via Citibank Online.

One-Time PIN (OTP)
  • OTP is a second level of authentication to your internet banking session that is inbuilt for your security. The first level of authentication is the combination of your Card Number and PIN which you need to enter to login to your internet banking portal
  • OTP is needed to effect an online transaction at Citibank Online or Citi Mobile
  • An OTP is a 6-digit random PIN and can be used for a single time use only
for login and other online transactions, this device offers a more sophisticated authentication process called Transaction Signing, when performing the following transactions:
Adding a new payee
Updating your email address
Performing a high-value funds transfer
Sending a secured message

Transaction Signing is a new process that has been introduced to increase the security of certain online banking transactions. This process requires the user to enter a 10-digit
Challenge Code
  • Challenge Code is a 10-digit numeric code that is generated by Citibank Online when you are performing one of the transactions requiring Transaction Signing
  • The 10-digit Challenge Code is a combination of the below sequence:

    First 4-digit are transaction specific such as Account Number.

    Last 6-digit are generated randomly.

  • You need to enter the Challenge Code into the device to generate a Transaction Authorization Code (TAC)
which is specific to the online transaction that the user is currently performing into the
Online Security Device.
Your Online Security Device (OSD) is a personalized device that randomly generates One-Time PIN (OTP) and Transaction Authorization Code (TAC). These security codes ensure greater levels of security for your internet banking transactions via Citibank Online.
The device will then generate a unique 6-digit security code named as
Transaction Authorization Code (TAC)
  • TAC is a new code that has been introduced with Transaction Signing.
  • It is a 6-digit code generated by your device and this is needed to complete the following online transactions:

    Adding a new payee.

    Performing high-value funds transfers.

    Updating your personal particulars.

  • Login to Citibank Online with your Username and Password.
  • Click on "Request for Online Security Device" under Account Services
  • Enter your One-Time PIN (OTP)
  • Write the message and click on "Send This Message" to send it to us
with your User ID and Password
