1. Add Payee

  • Before you can perform a Payment and Transfer for the first time, you will need to add a Payee.
  • Select 'Payments and Transfers' on your top navigation.
  • Find the ‘Add Payee’ option in the Manage Payee list.
  • Key in the One-Time PIN1 (OTP) from your Online Security Device(OSD) or via SMS.
  • Select a Payee Type and enter the relevant details.
  • Authorize your transaction and follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.
  • For adding Billing Organisation payees, you can opt to use an Online Authorization Code (OAC) to authorize the payee setup. OAC can be obtained via SMS, your OSD or through self-service phone banking with your Telephone PIN.

2. Fund Transfer using MEPS/FAST

FAST (Fast And Secure Transfers) is a mode of domestic funds transfer service that allows customers to pay anyone in Singapore, almost instantly. Start using this service by selecting the "Transfer via FAST" option when making a transfer to existing GIRO/MEPS/FAST payees on Citibank Online.

MEPS refers to a mode of transfer through the Monetary Authority of Singapore Electronic Payment System that allows you to transfer funds from your Citibank account to other bank accounts within Singapore on the same day, simply at a nominal charge of S$5.

3. GIRO and Standing Instruction

GIRO is an electronic bill payment option which allows you to transfer funds and will take about 2 to 3 working days to be effected. This mode of transfer can be used for scheduled payments to Individuals or Organisations in Singapore with no charges involved.

You will be able to set up a GIRO or Standing Instruction through your Citi Mobile App or Citibank Online.

4. Perform Bill Payments

Paying bills can be hassle-free. You can pay your utilities bills, telecommunication bills, taxes and membership fees easily via Citibank Online or Citi Mobile. With Citi PayAll, you can also use your Citibank Credit Card to pay selected billing organisations, rent, tax and many more on Citi Mobile.

5. Set up Citibank SMS Pay

Citibank SMS Pay is a secure & convenient way to pay your bills anytime, anywhere with just an SMS. Beat the queue and pay your Citibank Credit Card / Ready Credit bills using your non-Citibank account simply by sending an SMS. Find out more here.

How to Apply for Direct Crediting Service

You can apply for DCS by completing the application form and mail it in to CDP at:

Direct Crediting Service (DCS) is a free service offered jointly by Citibank and SGX to let CDP Account holders enjoy the convenience of having their Singapore-dollar dividend payments or other cash distributions from their securities holdings credited directly into their designated Citibank account.

You'll enjoy greater convenience as you do not need to wait for your dividend cheques to arrive by mail, and subsequently deposit them into your Citibank account. Your dividends will start earning interest from the date of payment.

Alternatively, you can obtain the same application form from your stockbroking company or CDP.

Once your application has been approved, CDP will notify you via mail. Your bank account number will also be reflected in your CDP monthly and year-end statements.

You will receive a Monthly Summary of Payments with details of the dividends paid. This Monthly Summary of Payments will be sent to you whenever there are payments made to you for the month. There will also be a transaction code "CDP" on your bank statement to indicate the amount credited into your bank account.

If CDP is unable to credit the dividend payment into your designated Citibank account, you will receive a cheque from CDP instead. A DCS application form will be enclosed for you to furnish CDP with the updated details concerning your bank account.

You can submit a new form to CDP, or write to CDP providing your particulars:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Securities account number
  • Identification / passport number (the records with CDP and your bank should correspond)
  • Contact number
  • New designated bank name & account number
  • Signature (to match that in our record)

You will receive a notification from CDP once the change has been effected.

No, DCS is a free service.

You can write to CDP on your request.

CDP is an acronym for Central Depository Account which is managed by Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX). CDP is basically a holding account for all securities you have purchased via the open market. All your investments both equities and fixed income instruments will be deposited in your CDP account.

To know if you already have a CDP account registered in your name you can contact the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) at 6535 7511. However, if you already know your CDP account number you can register for CDP Internet services to access your CDP securities portfolio or download e-statements and manage all your securities-related activities.

You may receive your cash distributions from CDP directly to your designated bank account with Direct Crediting Service (DCS). However, if you have not yet applied for DCS, your cash distributions will still be displayed in the Cash Transaction section of your CDP’s monthly account statement. Once you apply for a DCS, the cash distributions will be credited to the account automatically.

Electronic Payment of Shares (EPS)

Obtain the EPS Application Form from your stock broker to link your Citibank SSD-denominated deposit account to your share trading account.

Please liaise with your stockbroker to obtain the EPS Application Form to link up your Citibank SGD-denominated deposit account to your share trading account. Complete the EPS application form duly signed and returned to your stockbroker.

* The registration process will take between 1 to 2 weeks. During this period, the settlement of trades will be in cash or cheque. If you already have an existing EPS arrangement with another bank, there will be an additional de-registration period of 1 to 2 weeks.

The Singapore Exchange facilitates the transfer of SGD-denominated funds between an investor's designated bank account with a participating bank and his broker's bank account for the purpose of share Sales/Purchase settlement. This scheme is commonly known as Electronic Payment of Shares.

The EPS service allows for the automatic credit of the customer's bank account on trade settlement date for Share Sales or Contra Proceeds. For share purchases payment, customers can log into Citibank Online and use the secured EPS payment function to make payments either as a lump sum or by contract amounts.

Citibank Singapore is the first foreign bank to provide this service besides DBS/POSB, UOB and OCBC.

When I sell my stocks listed on SGX:

EPS facilitates the direct crediting of payment in Singapore dollars into your bank account after you have sold your shares.

Citibank will receive instructions from your stockbroker to credit your designated bank account with the amount due to you for the share sales proceeds. After initiating payment, your stockbroker will send you the sales contract note/s indicating the amount paid in Singapore dollars and the date it will be credited into your designated bank account.

When I purchase stocks listed on SGX:

EPS provides a facility for you to make payment in Singapore dollars via Citibank Online to your stockbroker for shares purchased. Once you have received your contract note, you may make payment for your shares via Citibank Online.

  • Faster Access to Share Sales Proceeds:Sales proceeds are immediately available on settlement date. There is no time lag and funds start to earn interest from settlement date once it has been credited into your Citibank deposit accounts
  • For example, if a cheque is sent to you promptly after due date (i.e. Due Date + 1 market day), you will receive it the following day (i.e. Due Date + 2 market days) and assuming you deposit it the day after (i.e. Due Date + 3 market days), your funds will be available to you on the fourth day after due date (i.e. Due Date + 4 market days). Under EPS, you will have access to your funds on the next working day after due date (i.e. Due Date + 1 market days).
  • Greater convenience as there is no need to bank-in the cheques received from the sale of shares. Payments via Citibank Online can be executed anytime from the comfort of your home.
  • Customers retain full control on what to pay to the participating stockbrokers. The EPS scheme is not a GIRO service.
  • Assurance:
    Payment will be credited into your designated Citibank account for your sales of shares or debited from your Citibank account to their stockbroker for shares bought. Customers need not worry about their shares bought being force sold due to misplaced cheques or cheques lost in the mail. With EPS, the stockbroker will receive the payment on the market day after the customer initiates the payment.

Please liaise with your stockbroker to obtain the EPS Application Form to link up your Citibank SGD-denominated deposit account to your share trading account. Please complete the EPS application form duly signed and returned to your stockbroker. The registration process will take between 1 to 2 weeks. If you already have an existing EPS arrangement with another bank, there will be an additional de-registration period of 1 to 2 weeks.

EPS applications are processed by The Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited on a weekly basis, i.e. on every Friday. However, if Friday is a public holiday, the application will be processed the next working day, i.e. Monday (if it is a working day). You will be advised in writing when the linkage of your designated Citibank account to your Trading Account has been activated. Please be advised that prior to approval, settlement of trades will be in cash or cheque.

Thereafter, share sale proceeds will be automatically credited into your registered bank account. For share purchase payment, please proceed to Citibank Online to effect the payments.

No, the EPS Service is only available on Citibank Online for share purchase payments.

No, there are no fees levied by Citibank for the EPS Service.

Yes, you can view all your outstanding contracts of your share trading account that is linked with your Citibank deposit account. Please note that your contracts will be removed from the outstanding records after the due date of T+3, regardless if you have paid for the contract or not.

You will be able to choose from 2 payment options via EPS through Citibank Online. You could pay by individual contracts or choose to pay any amount to your broker via the lump sum payment option.

For EPS made before 2130 hours (Singapore Time), your broker will receive the payment on the next working day. For EPS made after 2130 hours (Singapore Time), your broker will receive payment 2 working days later (for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and eve of public holidays, your broker will receive payment on the next working day regardless of the time of transaction).

Your paid contracts through EPS will only be excluded from the contract table after your broker acknowledges the receipt of your payments. In the event that the service is unavailable or unsuccessful, please try again later.

Yes. You may designate a Joint AND/OR account to apply for the EPS facility. However, please note that Joint AND Only accounts cannot be used to effect EPS payment.

Yes. You can choose to make payment via cash, cheque or telegraphic transfer if you do not wish to initiate payment via EPS through Citibank Online.

Yes, but you have to pay in Singapore dollars. The contract value is then expressed in the Singapore dollars equivalent and you can make payment through EPS. The FX rate applied on your payment and receipt from sale of shares will originate from the stockbroker.

Electronic Payment of Shares

Electronic Payment of Shares (EPS) is a convenient way of paying for your share purchases and receiving payment from the sale of your shares via Citibank Online.

  • Online cheques can only be sent to a payee in Singapore. There is no service fee incurred for issuing an online cheque. Once the cheque is issued, your account will be immediately debited for the cheque amount. If you would like to cancel the cheque, you will need to inform Citibank to cancel the cheque.
  • MEPS Instructions received after 5pm will be processed and effected on the next business day.
  • Payments to billing organisations using a Citibank Credit Card as source of funds will not earn any rewards and/or rebates under any Citibank rewards or loyalty programme.
  • This is applicable only for selected billing organizations.
  • This is only applicable for participating countries with Citibank Global Transfer.

You can make these transfers via the Citi Mobile® App or log in to Citibank Online. It can be found under Payments and Transfers, select a payee to begin. You can also walk into a Citibank branch to make a manual instruction.

Group 1 currencies:

Yes, you may book a rate with your Treasury Sales Officer, and input your Foreign Exchange Contract number in the online instruction.

 

Group 2 currencies:

No. At this moment, these new currencies are not available via Treasury Sales Officers.

The maximum transaction limit for both Group 1 and 2 currencies is SGD250,000.00 equivalent.

 

The minimum transaction limit for Korean Won (KRW), Taiwan Dollar (TWD), Laotian Kip (LAK) and Nepalese Rupee (NPR) is USD25.00 equivalent.

Group 1 currencies:

Yes, you may submit an online secure message to request for a Foreign Exchange rate from your Treasury Sales Officer.

 

Group 2 currencies:

No, these 23 currencies will not be available for booking via Treasury Sales Officers.

Transfer may take up to 3 working days from the day of instruction. For Group 2 Currencies, the transfer may take up to 7 to 10 working days, depending on the individual countries and banks receiving the funds.

Rates provided are an "All in Rate", which will be different from the prevailing interbank market rate of the time of execution, as it includes a Bank Spread. Spreads charged are determined by the Bank in its discretion according to the amount placed, and will not exceed 3%.

There will be no fees charged for transfers to Citibank accounts. For transfers made to non-Citibank accounts, there will be a 0.125% commission fee charged (capped at S$200) and a cable fee of S$30 (S$25 for Citi Priority and S$20 for Citigold and Citigold Private Clients)

You may change your sending currency to one that is different from the destination home currency, but a second conversion charge may be incurred, as applied by the beneficiary bank.

You may choose to send your funds in any of the existing currencies currently offered by Citi.

1. Why is there a change in payment instructions to Citibank Singapore Limited?

Citi Singapore operates under two legal entities – Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch and Citibank Singapore Limited.

Citi Singapore has decided to maintain separate transaction settlement accounts for the two legal entities. As such, Citibank Singapore Limited will be issued a new SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC) and a new Bank Code to be used for its SGD transactions. This means that you will need to use these new codes when you make any SGD transaction to your Citibank Singapore Limited ((Wealth management products and services, unsecured and secured products), International Personal Banking and CitiBusiness Banking account(s).

Kindly take note of the correct corresponding banking information, as listed in the table below.

2. How does this affect my outgoing transfers?

Any existing outgoing transfers from Citibank will not be affected by the change in BIC and Bank Code.

However, from 15 April 2019 onwards, you will need to ensure you select the correct BIC (refer to Table 1 above) when you initiate new SGD fund transfers from your Citibank Singapore Limited account to other Citibank Singapore Limited and Citibank N.A., Singapore branch account. No action is required for your existing payment set up.

In the event you experience difficulties in transferring funds to your Citibank Singapore Limited account, please delete your existing setup and re-establish a new transfer instruction.

3. How does this affect my incoming transfers?

With effect from April 15 2019, the SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC) will be changed to CITISGSL. This is applicable for all new SGD fund transfers (for SGD only) setup done via inter-bank payment platforms such as Fast and Secure Transfer (“FAST”), Inter-bank GIRO (“GIRO”), MAS Electronic Payment System (“MEPS”) and Telegraphic Transfers (“TT”) to Citibank Singapore Limited.

In order for incoming SGD funds/payments (for SGD only) to your Citibank Singapore Limited account(s) to be successfully processed, please provide the SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC) as CITISGSL to the relevant parties.

Payments made to an account(s) with incorrect BIC will not be processed and you may incur additional charges.

For incoming transfers in other currencies, there is no change in current BIC Code (CITISGSGGCB) and Bank Code (7214).

4. Are there are any changes for my existing ‘account payee’ of another Citibank Singapore Limited account, already set up in my account?

No, there is no change to your existing account payee set up.

5. What should I do if I want to add a new payee of another Citibank Singapore Limited account?

If you are adding a payee via Citibank Online or Citi Mobile App, select Citibank Account (local) or ‘Electronic Transfer (GIRO/MEPS/FAST).

If you have selected to make a SGD payment via Electronic Transfer, please ensure you enter the correct SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC).

6. What do I have to do when I transfer funds to another party’s Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch account from
15 April 2019 onwards?

There will be no change to the legal entity name and corresponding bank identifier codes for fund transfers to Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch accounts.

As such, you do not need to make any changes in any pre-established payees which you may have set up for regular funds transfers to Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch accounts.

However, please note that there will now be two bank names, Citibank NA Singapore and Citibank Singapore Limited, on the various inter-bank payment platforms (FAST, GIRO, MEPS, TT) To ensure that your transaction is processed successfully, kindly ensure that you select the correct Citi legal entity name and corresponding bank identifier codes when you initiate and/or receive payment instructions per stipulated in Table 1 as shown above.

With effect from mid-September 2022, the default Daily Transfer limits for Citibank Singapore Limited CASA Accounts will be S$5,000 for the following transfer types. You can update your Daily Transfer limits by following the steps set out below, up to the maximum limit stated for each transfer type.

Yes, you can pay businesses with PayNow via our Citi Mobile® App just by keying in their UEN number. Please note that the business you wish to pay to must first have registered with PayNow. You will be required to enter a transaction description, billing reference number, or receipt number based on the business's requirements.

The Unique Entity Number (UEN) is the standard identification number of a business entity or company entity that uniquely identifies this entity. For PayNow, some businesses may provide their UEN accompanied with a 3-character suffix. The suffix acts as an identifier to ensure that payments are made to the correct bank account.

Please approach the merchant or business to check if they accept PayNow as a form of payment, and the correct UEN to enter to make payment.

The status of your funds transfer will be reflected on your confirmation page and you may also check your transaction history on Citibank Online or Citi Mobile® App. You should also receive Citi Alerts for fund transfers (subject to the transaction value threshold that you have set) via email or SMS.

To increase the limits, please update via the “Manage Transfer Limits” link under the Payments and Transfers module. Please note that a 12-hour cooling off period applies. If there is a Citi mobile token registration, please note that you will not be able to perform cumulated transactions of more than SGD 1,000 for a period of 12 hours.
4. When updating my limits, why do I see the error “Amount entered exceeds maximum limit” The maximum limit configurable is up to the values indicated in question 2. If new limit entered exceeds the maximum allowed, this error message will be displayed.
5. I have just enrolled for Citi Mobile® App with enhanced security but I am unable to increase my funds transfer limits. Why is that so? For your security, there is a 12-hour cooling off period post enrolment of enhanced security function in Citi Mobile® App before you can perform any increase in funds transfer.
6. Does the 12-hours cooling off period for funds transfer limits apply to limit decreases? No, limit decrease requests will take effect immediately. The 12-hour cooling off period only applies to increase in funds transfer limits. This is intended to protect customers from scammers seeking to make unauthorised transactions.
7. Can the cooling off period be shortened? For your security, the cooling off period cannot be shortened.
8. Why do I see a ‘Limit exceeded’ error when attempting to do a PayNow transfer or FAST transfer?

The following are a few scenarios which may result in this error:

  • You have attempted to do a PayNow/FAST transfer which is above your defined daily transfer limit or above the maximum daily transfer limit
  • You have already done a FAST/GIRO/MEPS/PayNow/Bill Payment transfer on the same day and the amount which you are attempting to transfer exceeds the total daily accumulative limit allowed for local transfers (SGD 200,000).
9. Am I able to perform funds transfers above my set transfer limit? Once a limit has been set, no transaction, or sum of transactions totaling an amount greater to the daily limit set, can be performed on the same day.
10. What is an authorisation limit? The authorisation limit refers to the amount which you can pay or transfer before being asked to authorize the transaction. It applies to each transaction you make and differs by transaction type. If the transaction amount is equal to or above the authorisation limit, you will be required to authorise the transaction using the Citi Mobile® App with enhanced security capabilities. If you have not enrolled for Citi Mobile® App with enhanced security capabilities, please log in to the Citi Mobile® App to set it up.
11. What are the default authorisation limits?

1. Add Payee

  • Before you can perform a Payment and Transfer for the first time, you will need to add a Payee.
  • Select 'Payments and Transfers' on your top navigation.
  • Find the ‘Add Payee’ option in the Manage Payee list.
  • Key in the One-Time PIN1 (OTP) from your Online Security Device(OSD) or via SMS.
  • Select a Payee Type and enter the relevant details.
  • Authorize your transaction and follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.
  • For adding Billing Organisation payees, you can opt to use an Online Authorization Code (OAC) to authorize the payee setup. OAC can be obtained via SMS, your OSD or through self-service phone banking with your Telephone PIN.

2. Fund Transfer using MEPS/FAST

FAST (Fast And Secure Transfers) is a mode of domestic funds transfer service that allows customers to pay anyone in Singapore, almost instantly. Start using this service by selecting the "Transfer via FAST" option when making a transfer to existing GIRO/MEPS/FAST payees on Citibank Online.

MEPS refers to a mode of transfer through the Monetary Authority of Singapore Electronic Payment System that allows you to transfer funds from your Citibank account to other bank accounts within Singapore on the same day, simply at a nominal charge of S$5.

3. GIRO and Standing Instruction

GIRO is an electronic bill payment option which allows you to transfer funds and will take about 2 to 3 working days to be effected. This mode of transfer can be used for scheduled payments to Individuals or Organisations in Singapore with no charges involved.

You will be able to set up a GIRO or Standing Instruction through your Citi Mobile App or Citibank Online.

4. Perform Bill Payments

Paying bills can be hassle-free. You can pay your utilities bills, telecommunication bills, taxes and membership fees easily via Citibank Online or Citi Mobile. With Citi PayAll, you can also use your Citibank Credit Card to pay selected billing organisations, rent, tax and many more on Citi Mobile.

Direct Crediting Service (DCS) is a free service offered jointly by Citibank and SGX to let CDP Account holders enjoy the convenience of having their Singapore-dollar dividend payments or other cash distributions from their securities holdings credited directly into their designated Citibank account.

You'll enjoy greater convenience as you do not need to wait for your dividend cheques to arrive by mail, and subsequently deposit them into your Citibank account. Your dividends will start earning interest from the date of payment.

Alternatively, you can obtain the same application form from your stockbroking company or CDP.

Once your application has been approved, CDP will notify you via mail. Your bank account number will also be reflected in your CDP monthly and year-end statements.

You will receive a Monthly Summary of Payments with details of the dividends paid. This Monthly Summary of Payments will be sent to you whenever there are payments made to you for the month. There will also be a transaction code "CDP" on your bank statement to indicate the amount credited into your bank account.

If CDP is unable to credit the dividend payment into your designated Citibank account, you will receive a cheque from CDP instead. A DCS application form will be enclosed for you to furnish CDP with the updated details concerning your bank account.

You can submit a new form to CDP, or write to CDP providing your particulars:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Securities account number
  • Identification / passport number (the records with CDP and your bank should correspond)
  • Contact number
  • New designated bank name & account number
  • Signature (to match that in our record)

No, DCS is a free service.

You can write to CDP on your request.

CDP is an acronym for Central Depository Account which is managed by Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX). CDP is basically a holding account for all securities you have purchased via the open market. All your investments both equities and fixed income instruments will be deposited in your CDP account.

To know if you already have a CDP account registered in your name you can contact the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) at 6535 7511. However, if you already know your CDP account number you can register for CDP Internet services to access your CDP securities portfolio or download e-statements and manage all your securities-related activities.

You may receive your cash distributions from CDP directly to your designated bank account with Direct Crediting Service (DCS). However, if you have not yet applied for DCS, your cash distributions will still be displayed in the Cash Transaction section of your CDP’s monthly account statement. Once you apply for a DCS, the cash distributions will be credited to the account automatically.

The Singapore Exchange facilitates the transfer of SGD-denominated funds between an investor's designated bank account with a participating bank and his broker's bank account for the purpose of share Sales/Purchase settlement. This scheme is commonly known as Electronic Payment of Shares.

The EPS service allows for the automatic credit of the customer's bank account on trade settlement date for Share Sales or Contra Proceeds. For share purchases payment, customers can log into Citibank Online and use the secured EPS payment function to make payments either as a lump sum or by contract amounts.

Citibank Singapore is the first foreign bank to provide this service besides DBS/POSB, UOB and OCBC.

When I sell my stocks listed on SGX:

EPS facilitates the direct crediting of payment in Singapore dollars into your bank account after you have sold your shares.

Citibank will receive instructions from your stockbroker to credit your designated bank account with the amount due to you for the share sales proceeds. After initiating payment, your stockbroker will send you the sales contract note/s indicating the amount paid in Singapore dollars and the date it will be credited into your designated bank account.

When I purchase stocks listed on SGX:

EPS provides a facility for you to make payment in Singapore dollars via Citibank Online to your stockbroker for shares purchased. Once you have received your contract note, you may make payment for your shares via Citibank Online.

  • Faster Access to Share Sales Proceeds:Sales proceeds are immediately available on settlement date. There is no time lag and funds start to earn interest from settlement date once it has been credited into your Citibank deposit accounts
  • For example, if a cheque is sent to you promptly after due date (i.e. Due Date + 1 market day), you will receive it the following day (i.e. Due Date + 2 market days) and assuming you deposit it the day after (i.e. Due Date + 3 market days), your funds will be available to you on the fourth day after due date (i.e. Due Date + 4 market days). Under EPS, you will have access to your funds on the next working day after due date (i.e. Due Date + 1 market days).
  • Greater convenience as there is no need to bank-in the cheques received from the sale of shares. Payments via Citibank Online can be executed anytime from the comfort of your home.
  • Customers retain full control on what to pay to the participating stockbrokers. The EPS scheme is not a GIRO service.
  • Assurance:
    Payment will be credited into your designated Citibank account for your sales of shares or debited from your Citibank account to their stockbroker for shares bought. Customers need not worry about their shares bought being force sold due to misplaced cheques or cheques lost in the mail. With EPS, the stockbroker will receive the payment on the market day after the customer initiates the payment.

Please liaise with your stockbroker to obtain the EPS Application Form to link up your Citibank SGD-denominated deposit account to your share trading account. Please complete the EPS application form duly signed and returned to your stockbroker. The registration process will take between 1 to 2 weeks. If you already have an existing EPS arrangement with another bank, there will be an additional de-registration period of 1 to 2 weeks.

EPS applications are processed by The Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited on a weekly basis, i.e. on every Friday. However, if Friday is a public holiday, the application will be processed the next working day, i.e. Monday (if it is a working day). You will be advised in writing when the linkage of your designated Citibank account to your Trading Account has been activated. Please be advised that prior to approval, settlement of trades will be in cash or cheque.

Thereafter, share sale proceeds will be automatically credited into your registered bank account. For share purchase payment, please proceed to Citibank Online to effect the payments.

No, the EPS Service is only available on Citibank Online for share purchase payments.

No, there are no fees levied by Citibank for the EPS Service.

Yes, you can view all your outstanding contracts of your share trading account that is linked with your Citibank deposit account. Please note that your contracts will be removed from the outstanding records after the due date of T+3, regardless if you have paid for the contract or not.

You will be able to choose from 2 payment options via EPS through Citibank Online. You could pay by individual contracts or choose to pay any amount to your broker via the lump sum payment option.

For EPS made before 2130 hours (Singapore Time), your broker will receive the payment on the next working day. For EPS made after 2130 hours (Singapore Time), your broker will receive payment 2 working days later (for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and eve of public holidays, your broker will receive payment on the next working day regardless of the time of transaction).

Your paid contracts through EPS will only be excluded from the contract table after your broker acknowledges the receipt of your payments. In the event that the service is unavailable or unsuccessful, please try again later.

Yes. You may designate a Joint AND/OR account to apply for the EPS facility. However, please note that Joint AND Only accounts cannot be used to effect EPS payment.

Yes. You can choose to make payment via cash, cheque or telegraphic transfer if you do not wish to initiate payment via EPS through Citibank Online.

Yes, but you have to pay in Singapore dollars. The contract value is then expressed in the Singapore dollars equivalent and you can make payment through EPS. The FX rate applied on your payment and receipt from sale of shares will originate from the stockbroker.

Electronic Payment of Shares

Electronic Payment of Shares (EPS) is a convenient way of paying for your share purchases and receiving payment from the sale of your shares via Citibank Online.

  • Online cheques can only be sent to a payee in Singapore. There is no service fee incurred for issuing an online cheque. Once the cheque is issued, your account will be immediately debited for the cheque amount. If you would like to cancel the cheque, you will need to inform Citibank to cancel the cheque.
  • MEPS Instructions received after 5pm will be processed and effected on the next business day.
  • Payments to billing organisations using a Citibank Credit Card as source of funds will not earn any rewards and/or rebates under any Citibank rewards or loyalty programme.
  • This is applicable only for selected billing organizations.
  • This is only applicable for participating countries with Citibank Global Transfer.

Rates provided are an "All in Rate", which will be different from the prevailing interbank market rate of the time of execution, as it includes a Bank Spread. Spreads charged are determined by the Bank in its discretion according to the amount placed, and will not exceed 3%.

1. Why is there a change in payment instructions to Citibank Singapore Limited?

Citi Singapore operates under two legal entities – Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch and Citibank Singapore Limited.

Citi Singapore has decided to maintain separate transaction settlement accounts for the two legal entities. As such, Citibank Singapore Limited will be issued a new SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC) and a new Bank Code to be used for its SGD transactions. This means that you will need to use these new codes when you make any SGD transaction to your Citibank Singapore Limited ((Wealth management products and services, unsecured and secured products), International Personal Banking and CitiBusiness Banking account(s).

Kindly take note of the correct corresponding banking information, as listed in the table below.

2. How does this affect my outgoing transfers?

Any existing outgoing transfers from Citibank will not be affected by the change in BIC and Bank Code.

However, from 15 April 2019 onwards, you will need to ensure you select the correct BIC (refer to Table 1 above) when you initiate new SGD fund transfers from your Citibank Singapore Limited account to other Citibank Singapore Limited and Citibank N.A., Singapore branch account. No action is required for your existing payment set up.

In the event you experience difficulties in transferring funds to your Citibank Singapore Limited account, please delete your existing setup and re-establish a new transfer instruction.

3. How does this affect my incoming transfers?

With effect from April 15 2019, the SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC) will be changed to CITISGSL. This is applicable for all new SGD fund transfers (for SGD only) setup done via inter-bank payment platforms such as Fast and Secure Transfer (“FAST”), Inter-bank GIRO (“GIRO”), MAS Electronic Payment System (“MEPS”) and Telegraphic Transfers (“TT”) to Citibank Singapore Limited.

In order for incoming SGD funds/payments (for SGD only) to your Citibank Singapore Limited account(s) to be successfully processed, please provide the SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC) as CITISGSL to the relevant parties.

Payments made to an account(s) with incorrect BIC will not be processed and you may incur additional charges.

For incoming transfers in other currencies, there is no change in current BIC Code (CITISGSGGCB) and Bank Code (7214).

4. Are there are any changes for my existing ‘account payee’ of another Citibank Singapore Limited account, already set up in my account?

No, there is no change to your existing account payee set up.

5. What should I do if I want to add a new payee of another Citibank Singapore Limited account?

If you are adding a payee via Citibank Online or Citi Mobile App, select Citibank Account (local) or ‘Electronic Transfer (GIRO/MEPS/FAST).

If you have selected to make a SGD payment via Electronic Transfer, please ensure you enter the correct SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC).

6. What do I have to do when I transfer funds to another party’s Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch account from
15 April 2019 onwards?

There will be no change to the legal entity name and corresponding bank identifier codes for fund transfers to Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch accounts.

As such, you do not need to make any changes in any pre-established payees which you may have set up for regular funds transfers to Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch accounts.

However, please note that there will now be two bank names, Citibank NA Singapore and Citibank Singapore Limited, on the various inter-bank payment platforms (FAST, GIRO, MEPS, TT) To ensure that your transaction is processed successfully, kindly ensure that you select the correct Citi legal entity name and corresponding bank identifier codes when you initiate and/or receive payment instructions per stipulated in Table 1 as shown above.

With effect from mid-September 2022, the default Daily Transfer limits for Citibank Singapore Limited CASA Accounts will be S$5,000 for the following transfer types. You can update your Daily Transfer limits by following the steps set out below, up to the maximum limit stated for each transfer type.

Yes, you can pay businesses with PayNow via our Citi Mobile® App just by keying in their UEN number. Please note that the business you wish to pay to must first have registered with PayNow. You will be required to enter a transaction description, billing reference number, or receipt number based on the business's requirements.

The Unique Entity Number (UEN) is the standard identification number of a business entity or company entity that uniquely identifies this entity. For PayNow, some businesses may provide their UEN accompanied with a 3-character suffix. The suffix acts as an identifier to ensure that payments are made to the correct bank account.

Please approach the merchant or business to check if they accept PayNow as a form of payment, and the correct UEN to enter to make payment.

If there is a Citi mobile token registration, please note that you will not be able to perform cumulated transactions of more than SGD 1,000 for a period of 12 hours.
4. When updating my limits, why do I see the error “Amount entered exceeds maximum limit” The maximum limit configurable is up to the values indicated in question 2. If new limit entered exceeds the maximum allowed, this error message will be displayed.
5. I have just enrolled for Citi Mobile® App with enhanced security but I am unable to increase my funds transfer limits. Why is that so? For your security, there is a 12-hour cooling off period post enrolment of enhanced security function in Citi Mobile® App before you can perform any increase in funds transfer.
6. Does the 12-hours cooling off period for funds transfer limits apply to limit decreases? No, limit decrease requests will take effect immediately. The 12-hour cooling off period only applies to increase in funds transfer limits. This is intended to protect customers from scammers seeking to make unauthorised transactions.
7. Can the cooling off period be shortened? For your security, the cooling off period cannot be shortened.
8. Why do I see a ‘Limit exceeded’ error when attempting to do a PayNow transfer or FAST transfer?

The following are a few scenarios which may result in this error:

  • You have attempted to do a PayNow/FAST transfer which is above your defined daily transfer limit or above the maximum daily transfer limit
  • You have already done a FAST/GIRO/MEPS/PayNow/Bill Payment transfer on the same day and the amount which you are attempting to transfer exceeds the total daily accumulative limit allowed for local transfers (SGD 200,000).
9. Am I able to perform funds transfers above my set transfer limit? Once a limit has been set, no transaction, or sum of transactions totaling an amount greater to the daily limit set, can be performed on the same day.
10. What is an authorisation limit? The authorisation limit refers to the amount which you can pay or transfer before being asked to authorize the transaction. It applies to each transaction you make and differs by transaction type. If the transaction amount is equal to or above the authorisation limit, you will be required to authorise the transaction using the Citi Mobile® App with enhanced security capabilities. If you have not enrolled for Citi Mobile® App with enhanced security capabilities, please log in to the Citi Mobile® App to set it up.
11. What are the default authorisation limits?
