"Time in" the market is better than "timing" the market.
In recent times, markets across the world are exhibiting one common trait - volatility. While volatility can be dramatic, it also offers the potential to generate future returns.
Faced with these uncertain market conditions, instead of relying on guesswork to time the market, you can adopt a powerful investment approach: Dollar Cost Averaging. By contributing a fixed amount each month to invest into investment funds, you can buy more units when the prices are low and less when prices are high. Citibank Regular Savings Plan (RSP) adopts this approach which can help to average out the market's peaks and troughs. Over time, with the reduced average cost of investment, it will translate to higher returns when market recovers.
Benefits of Regular Savings Plan (RSP):
Affordable
All it takes is S$100 to begin investing in Investment Funds^ through Regular Savings Plan (RSP), you could be on your way to achieving your financial goals.
Ability to manage market timing using the concept of Dollar Cost Averaging
Investing a fixed amount on a regular basis helps to average the cost of investment and over time when market moves upwards, you will have the opportunity to gain from it.
Automatic and flexible
Monthly investment orders will be set up and processed automatically. What's more, you can also choose a desired calendar date for the investment purchases.
Investment Solutions
Diversify your portfolio with Citibank's wide range of investment funds, managed by some of the most reputable names in fund management.
How does Citibank Regular Savings Plan take care of the market volatility?
With a fixed amount invested monthly, more units of the fund that you invest in can be purchased when the price is low and less units of the fund will be purchased when the price is high. As a result, you may have purchased more units and the average cost per unit is lower. Over time, it will translate to higher returns when market recovers.
This is an investment strategy that may allow you to benefit from the volatile market.
Here is an illustration of how Dollar Cost Averaging works:
